What will I do?

  • Personal mentor to one or two students
  • Complete SAWC mentorship program including youth development, wellness, academic and career exploration
  • Optional participation in group mentorship programming such as panels and workshops

What is the work like?

Before the camp, you will:
  • Attend workshops on empathy and active listening, effective mentorship, etc.
During and after the camp, you will:
  • Organize one-on-one sessions with mentee(s)
  • Complete session activities with mentees(s)
  • Reflect on and share your experiences

The Timeline

Late Nov - Early Dec: Workshops
- Mentorship
- Empathetic Communication
- Ethics and Working with Minors
- Reflection and Self Care

Late Dec to Mid February: Mentorship
Each mentor-mentee pair will complete 6 mentorship sessions (~ once a week).
*Flexibility for mentor-mentees to complete sessions with an expected predetermined programming by end of Jan.

What's the time commitment?

  • Given the work description and the timeline, we estimate an average of 1-3 hours/week for mentorship and program development before, during, and after camp
  • We will be as flexible as possible to accommodate SAWC into your schedule
